EXCITING OPPORTUNITY:
K-12 Idaho Science Standards Review Committee

The Idaho Department of Education is recruiting applicants for a K-12 Idaho Science Standards Review Committee.

If it's important to you that Idaho's students learn about climate science, evolution, and the nature of science, this is your chance to make a real difference in Idaho science education.

Members of the committee will review and revise the present Idaho Content Standards for Science (PDF) to ensure that updated standards are ready to be presented to the state board of education during the 2027 legislative session.

Applicants should be currently certified Idaho teachers, Idaho school administrators, Idaho higher education instructors or administrators, Idaho school board trustees, or parents/guardians of students currently enrolled in a K-12 Idaho school. (If you play more than more than one of these roles, you're asked to complete one application per role.)

In addition to basic contact and job information, the online application asks, "Why are you interested in serving on this committee?" and "Please describe your experience that qualifies you to be part of the standards review committee for the Idaho Standards for Science."

The deadline to apply is June 14 -- so please apply now! Decisions on applications will be announced by June 26. The committee will meet by Zoom on July 7 and in person in Boise on September 25 and 26. (Do not apply if you already know that you have a conflict!) There may be further discussions as needed throughout October and November.  (P.S. Your support of NCSE will help to ensure that students have access to accurate and effective evolution and climate change education.)
