Dear Secretary McGrane,
I am writing to express my concern and frustration with Idaho’s new online voter registration system at VoteIdaho.gov. While I appreciate your efforts to improve election security and voter records, the current process is unnecessarily complicated and creates significant barriers for people trying to register or update their voter information online.
Recently, someone who is experienced with voter registration, had significant difficulty changing her address online. She ultimately needed an hour of phone assistance to complete the process. If an experienced voter advocate struggles to navigate the system, I worry about how difficult it must be for students, elderly and first-time voters trying to register using only their phones.
The process can require multiple steps, including scanning QR codes, taking a selfie, and submitting driver's license information. Students who do not have a driver's license or who rely on a student ID may face additional barriers. These challenges are particularly concerning given the importance of encouraging young Idahoans to participate in our elections.
We have also seen reports that Idaho's 2023 voter registration requirements have had a significant impact on youth voter registration, with Idaho falling from first to last among states for voter registration among 18- and 19-year-olds. That should concern all of us, regardless of political affiliation.
I respectfully ask that your office review the accessibility and usability of the online registration system, particularly from the perspective of a young person using a mobile phone. I would also appreciate the opportunity to meet with someone from your office to discuss these concerns and hear what can be done to make the process more accessible while maintaining election security.
Voting is a fundamental part of civic participation. We should be making it as straightforward as possible for eligible Idahoans—especially young people—to register and keep their voter information current. I look forward to hearing from you.

Flock is in more than 5,000 communities and has a goal of building a nationwide network of mass surveillance. Its Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) is generating over 20 billion vehicle tracking plate scans EVERY MONTH.
And that data is being retained and shared across Flock’s massive network, including sharing this data overseas where it is not protected by our laws or Constitution.
We need states to adopt guardrails to protect our residents’ civil rights and liberties.

Another Data Center in Kuna?!?
Kuna, Idaho is home to a massive $800M Meta Platforms Inc. Data Center spanning 960,000 square feet near Cole and Kuna Mora Roads. A second major 620-acre project called the Gemstone Technology Park near Locust Grove and Barker Roads is moving through local zoning and planning approvals amid local discussions regarding energy demands.
Industry data suggests the Meta facility may use 400,000–600,000 gallons per day, especially during summer cooling.
